About two-thirds of the Georgia State indoor track and field team competed Friday in Birmingham, Ala., at the Birmingham-Southern Panther Indoor Icebreaker. Niamh Kearney's victory in the 3,000 meters led the way.

With about 20 competitors, Georgia State's women's indoor track season gets under way Friday, Dec. 6 at the Panther Indoor Icebreaker hosted by Birmingham-Southern at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Georgia State finished fourth at the Sun Belt Conference championships and compiled a final No. 15 USTFCCCA South Region ranking. The Panthers had a pair of junior runners earn All-Sun Belt honors by finishing in the top 10 at the championship meet.
