More than 450 student-athletes, coaches and staff gathered to celebrate the 2014-15 season with the Golden Panther Awards.

One GSU relay team finished second in the championship race, another advanced to Saturday's championship race at the 121st Penn Relays in Philadelphia.

Niamh Kearney clocked the fastest 3,000m steeplechase time in the Sun Belt, while Jennifer Rubel ran the third-fastest 10,000m run in GSU history in the Penn Relays Thursday in Philadelphila.

LaPorscha Wells was named the Sun Belt Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this year. She has broken her own school record four times this spring and should qualify for the NCAA East Regional.

GSU will send 12 competitors to the world's largest track and field meet, The Penn Relays, Thursday-Saturday at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa.

Track and Field's LaPorscha Wells and baseball's Matt Rose are honored as GSU Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Georgia Power.
